Growth plan for "be a friend" scheme

An expansion plan for the be a friend scheme is being launched at the morning service at North Somercotes on Sunday 29 January, 2012. The first objective is to use the new branding on posters and postcards as part of a publicity programme to identify and attract lonely and socially isolated people to provide them with opportuntities for a fuller life. The second objective is to recruit additional volunteer befrienders.
The scheme is available to people regardless of faith, race or gender. The referral system is as simple, open and hassle-free as is possible whilst retaining its professionalism.

There will be about 15 students from years 5 and 6 and more mature participants are invited to book in with Peta Hill by 23 January. The theme for the event will be World War II. You do not need to have lived though the war to attend! The cost of lunch for the more mature attendees will be £4.00.

Stimulating meeting spaces

Trinity Centre offers stimulating meeting spaces for individuals, voluntary groups and businesses in our community. The facilities are modern, there are excellent catering facilities, and the costs are very reasonable.
If you are organising a party, running training courses or conferences, or need somewhere convenient to meet in Louth check out what we can offer: Rooms for Hire.
Food and Fellowship

Breaking bread together is important. Eating on your own is better than having nothing to eat, but food tastes better when eating with others and is a good way to create conversatonal openings.
Trinity offers a number of eating together opportunities - only one of which is fish and chips! They are not just for people who would otherwise be alone, so you can try them for yourself and then bring someone with you or recommend them to anyone you think might enjoy them. See the possibilities at Food and Fellowship.
Warm Homes, Healthy People
A new "Responders to Warmth" (R2W) fund aimed at combating fuel poverty and helping vulnerable people and those suffering with ill health to cope this winter is available from mid January to the end of March 2012. It provides free or subsidised winter warmth services.
People receiving the service can expect anything from new slippers (old ones often contribute to slips and falls) to heating repairs or improvements. Following a referral a "Responder to Warmth" visits the eligible occupant to offer on-the-spot practical advice or support.
To be eligible you will need to be recommended by a health professional or community practitioner, "earn" less than £23,500 a year per household and have cash saving of less than £13,000.
R2W is funded by the Department of Health and managed by the Lincolnshire Community Foundtion, sponsored by NHS Lincolnshire. For further information see posters in doctors' waiting areas or look at www.responderstowarmth.co.uk
